Metastasis into a thyroid neoplasm—tumor-to-tumor metastasis—is exceedingly rare. We describe the 28th documented case of a tumor metastatic to a thyroid neoplasm and review the literature on tumor-to-tumor metastasis involving a thyroid neoplasm as recipient. All cases showed a recipient thyroid neoplasm with an abrupt transition to a morphologically distinct . The small cell variant of anaplastic cancer was a frequent diagnosis more than 20 years ago. Most of these cases were really non-Hodgkin's malignant lymphomas. On the basis of immunohistochemical studies, even the existence of the small cell variant of anaplastic thyroid cancer was questioned.
dren. We report a case of primary malignant thyroid terato-ma in a yr-old female. To our knowledge, this is the first case of malignant teratoma with a primitive neuroectoder-mal tumor component in the thyroid in Korea. We report a case of tumor-to-tumor metastasis of a cutaneous malignant melanoma to a synchronous thyroid Hurthle cell carcinoma. A year-old male underwent a biopsy of right inguinal lymphadenopathy which demonstrated metastatic melanoma.
The primary lesion was identified on his right posterior le. Most teratomas involving the thyroid are benign and occur in children. We report a case of primary malignant thyroid teratoma in a yr-old female.
To our knowledge, this is the first case of malignant teratoma with a primitive neuroectodermal tumor component in the thyroid Cited by: She died of recurrent tumor and related complications 9 months after discovery of the lesion. This is the 6th case of primary teratoma of the thyroid and the 9th case of cervical teratoma reported in a adult.
These tumors are characteristically large, rapidly growing and highly malignant. The longest survival reported is 10 by: The message from this unusual case is that all thyroid nodules need to be taken seriously and a thyroid lesion may be the sentinel event in a patient with a malignant melanoma.
This highlights the importance of early recognition and management of thyroid metastasis, which contributes to prolonged survival in some patients and prevention of.
To our knowledge, only 27 cases of tumor-to-tumor metastasis in which the recipient tumor was a primary thyroid neoplasm have been reported in the literature [3–23]. We report a case of poorly differentiated carcinoma of lung metastatic to a follicular adenoma and review the literature on tumor-to-tumor metastasis in the thyroid by: Introduction: Patients with either papillary thyroid carcinoma or melanoma have an increased risk of developing the other cancer as a second primary malignant neoplasm.
We report a rare case of malignant melanoma (CM) and papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) that were diagnosed and treated simultaneously. Observation: We report a case about a Of primary malignant tumors of the thyroid gland diagnosed in the pathology department of the University of Cape Town, (%) were.
Papillary thyroid carcinoma is the most common type of thyroid cancer, and is associated with a good prognosis. Second primary tumors may occur in patients with malignant melanoma. In a study by Bhatia et al, 37 out of patients (%) with.
Primary Origin of Thyroid Metastases. In autopsy series, the incidence of metastases overall is 2%. In autopsy series, the most common site of primary tumor is the lung, whereas in clinical series renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is more common (Table 1).1,6–18 Because of the aggressive nature of lung malignancies, patients are often treated with palliative intent.
We reviewed 16 malignant thyroid tumors diagnosed at 2 medical centers in China from toincluding 55 patients with STTs. The most frequent primary tumor sites included lung (%), gastrointestinal (%), breast (%), and kidney (%).
The median age at STT diagnosis was 56 years. Objective: Malignant teratomas of the thyroid are very rare, with less than 30 cases reported in adults.
Presentation of a recent patient and a review of the literature have provided insight into the usual clinical presentation and histopathologic characteristics of malignant teratomas of the thyroid gland in adults and the available management options for this disease process.
The AFIP cases were identified in a review of 27, (%) benign or malignant primary thyroid gland tumors seen in consultation during the same time. Twenty‐three cases were obtained from civilian sources, including university medical centers and foreign contributors, and 7 were from military hospitals.

Thyroid malignancies are most commonly primary thyroid cancers but can rarely be metastatic deposits.
Pathology Classification. Thyroid malignancies can be categorized into the following key subtypes: primary thyroid cancers papillary thyroid carcinoma: % of carcinomas follicular thyroid carcinoma: %; medullary thyroid carcinoma: 5%; anaplastic thyroid. Hyalinizing trabecular tumor (HTT) of the thyroid is a rare neoplasm that was first described by Carney in It is a tumor of follicular derivation with peculiar nuclear, architectural, histochemical, and immunohistochemical features.
We report a case of HTT in a year-old woman with a mutinodular goiter. Primary Malignant Teratoma with a Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor Component in Thyroid Gland: A Case Report Article (PDF Available) in Journal of Korean Medical Science 22(3).
Primary leiomyosarcomas of the thyroid gland are extremely rare. we report a case of a 72 year-old women with a painful growing mass of the left neck with skin fistula. The patient underwent a lobectomy.
